Italian Cream Cake Recipe

Ingredients:
1 stick soft margarine
1/2 c.
shortening (Crisco)
2 c.
sugar
5 eggs,
yolks beaten (save whites)
1 tsp.
soda (baking)
2 c.
plain flour
1 c.
buttermilk
1 tsp.
vanilla
1 c.
coconut
1 c.
chopped nuts
Beat margarine, shortening, sugar. Add beaten egg yolks. Sift flour and baking soda (3 times). Add alternately to mixture with buttermilk. Add vanilla, coconut and nuts. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake in three 9 inch layer pans at 350
degrees for 20-25 minutes.ICING:
Cream together:18 oz. cream cheese
1/2 c.
Crisco
1 box
confectioners’ sugar
1 tsp.
vanilla

Directions:
Let cake cool completely before spreading on icing.
